Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Annapurna Base Camp trekking is one of the most beautiful treks that combine easy walking with majestic scenery and a mix of cultures unmatched by any other treks in Nepal. There are many different ethnic groups along the trail, but the predominant people in this area are the Gurungs. Together with the Magar and Chetrie people, the Gurungs are famous as soldiers in the British Army, better known as Gurkhas.
Along the trail the views of Machapuchare and the Annapurnas are magnificent. The various trails from which we can choose lead us towards such Himalayan giants as Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna II (7937m.) and Machapuchare (6993m). Climbing higher, the winding trail passes through magnificent forests of oak and rhododendron that line the southern foothills of the Himalaya. The terrain varies from sub-tropical valleys with banana trees and rice paddies to high ridges clad in thick rhododendron forest. In January and February these may well be covered in snow, while during March and April they will be a blaze of red rhododendron flowers.
Very famous view point from Poon Hill fantastic sunrise and 360 deg view of all the Annapurna Range including Annapurna South (7272m) Annapurna I (8091m) with imposing views of the Mt. Dhaulagiri(8167m). After Dovan walking through alpine meadow and breath taking views of mountains. Once arrived at Annapurna Base Camp, we will be surrounded by snowcapped mountain sanctuary.The altitudes of this trek between about 915m at Pokhara to approx.4200m at Annapurna, going up and down will test the best pair of knees. The secret is, take it slowly.
Itinerary
Day 01 Kathmandu 1350m.
You will be welcomed by our representative at Tribhuvan Internationa Airport upon your arrival, then transferred to hotel. Our representative will brief you the logistics of your different phases before dinner.
Day 02 Kathmandu 1350m.
You will be taken to sight seeing in world heritage places including Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath by our tour guide, Preparation for trekking in the Evening. (If any stuff needed to be purchased for Trekking)
Day 03 Drive to Pokhara 850m.
After break fast drive to Pokhra it is opportunity to see different cultures and along drive to Tursuli River.
Day 04 Pokhara to Phedi and trek to Dhumpus 1650m.
After breakfast, we will drive by car or bus (depending on group size) to Phedi ( 45 minutes) and commence the trekking from. It is mostly steep uphill through forests and fields to Dhampus Village on the top of the ridge at 1650m. You will have excellent views of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail) and Annapurna from here.
Day 05 Dhumpus to Landruk 1565m.
You continue along the ridge through rhododendron forests gradually uphill to Deurali, atop a hill at 2150m, where there are views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. From here the trail descends steeply through forests with birds, ferns and orchids into huge side canyons of Modi River. You will descend past a couple of guesthouses and restaurants at a Gurung Villages and cross a stream at 1790m. Now the trail gently climbs to bring you to Tolka Village at 1810m where you will eat at your lunch and then descends a long staircase to a suspension bridge across a stream at 1720m. Now, you will have a gentle climb to the ridge top followed by easy walk past streams, fields, cross the suspension bridge and finally arrive at Landruk a Gurung Village for overnight stay.
Day 06 Landruk to Chomrong 2170m.
The trail to the sanctuary heads north of the valley, passing along sides rice terraces and then through forests. The trail leads to Nayapul (1340m) and descends steeply to Samung, then crosses a stream at 1430m. A stiff climb leads to Jhinu Danda Village (1750) where you will have lunch break and can make a side trip to Hot Spring. Further steep up is Taglung, atop the treeless ridge at 2180m. The trail now is wider and better from here to Chomrong, which is a Gurung village with a number of guesthouses and hotels. There is tremendous view of Annapurna South, which seems to tower above the village and Mt. Fishtail across the valley.
Day 07 Chomrog to Dovan 2600m.
From the upper end of Chomromg Village, the trail descends the long stone steps and cross the suspension bridge over the Chomorong River from where you will climb the mountain flank and pass the hamlet and small inns till you reach the top of the ridge. From here you will follow a rocky path through the forested area until you come to Khurdi Ghar where you will have your lunch. After lunch, descend the stone steps and continue through the bamboo forests to Bamboo Lodge from where you will make a gentle ascent through the forested area and cross at least three steams. Soon you are in Dovan.
Day 08 Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp 3700m.
Now, the trail traverses high above the river but thanks to thick stands of bamboo that blocks the view of the rushing river and waterfall. After crossing a landslide and another avalanche track, you will reach Himalayan Hotel (2900m). Another hour walks, first on a rocky trail through forests, then up a steep ravine, brings you to Hinko at 3160m. Now the trail crosses a ravine and a major avalanche track and climbs through large boulders to Deorali (3230m) where you will stop for lunch.
From Deorali, you will go to the river bank and follow the flank until you come to Bagal ( 3300m) where most altitude conscious trekkers halt the day. From Bagal, climb from the riverbank to the terrace, follow the path on the flank where big rhododendrons are growing and you will come to the end of the ridge. After crossing the stream, you will have a gentle climb before you reach Macchapuchre Base Camp.
Day 09 Machhapuhhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) and to Macchahpuchhre Base Camp
You will set our early morning today and follow the ablation valley, which is a corridor-like hollow developed between the glacier and the mountain flank. Cross over about three low hills, go up on the next hill, and you are in the Annapurna Base Camp Sanctuary (4130m). In the front you have amazingly standing Annapurna I (8091m) with three lumps. At the right, there are the glittering snow-clad peaks of Khangsar Kang (7485m) with Himalayan ice flutings and Tarke Kang (7193m), stretching further to Singuchuli (6501), one of the interesting trekking peaks. Behind them, you can see the triangular rock spire of Machhapuchhre and snow-clad peak of Annapurna III (755m). The sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding its panorama of 360 degrees. After having tea or coffee here, you will retrace the way to Machhapuchhre Base Camp for overnight.
Day 10 Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Dovan 2600m.
After the break fast walk through the forest same way back to down hill it easy day of the trekking.
Day 11 Dovan to Chomrong 2170m.
Today you continues down hill along the Stream and forest before reaching to the Sinuwa you have to ascend and again down hill to suspension Bridge then comes Chomrong.
Day 12 Chomrong to Tadapni 2860m.
You will continue to retrace till Khumnu above the Kyumrum Khola at 1780m and cross the river on a suspension bridge and then walk about 20 m upstream to the site of the defunct old bridge. You will follow a faint trail steeply uphill, which becomes distinct as it switchbacks up through wheat fields to the Melanche Village at 2050m. Above the village the trail becomes less steep, but still climbs steadily through rhododendron forests to Tadapani.
Day 13 Tadapani to Ghorepani 2860m.
From Tadapani, the trail descends through the forested area until you cross the Chorom Khola ( River) from where you will climb the flank of the river to Banthanti. Further on is Deorali where you will have lunch break. From here, you will have several small ascents and descents and through rhododendron forests to arrive Ghorepani, Ghorepani offers excellent views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri bathed in red in the evening.
Day 14 Ghorepani to Poonhill and Tikeh 1540m.
Early morning, you will climb one hour to reach the famous Poon Hill, you will have a wider view, from east to west, Machhapuchhre (6993m), Hiunchuli, Annapurna South Peak and Annpurna I. After taking some beautiful snaps of the snow peaks and the natural scenery, you will descent to Tikhe Dhunga via Ghorepani.
Day 15 Tikhe Dhunga to Birethanti and drive to Pokhara 850m.
The trail passes through Hile village and along the rivers down hill to Nayapul before reaching to the Nayapul you cross the suspensions bridge. We will make stop for lunch in Bire Thati and you will catch Transport from Nayapul to Pokhara.
Day 16 Drive back to Kathmandu 1350m.
After break fast drive to Kathmandu it takes approximately 7 hours by Tourist Bus.
Day 17 Kathmandu 1350m.
Final day for relax, re-organise your bags, shopping in Kathmandu and Remember to re-confirm your flights.
Day 18 Fly back to Home.
This is your final day in Kathmandu before catching your flight to home, ensure you have all the stuff packed and arrive at the airport in plenty of time, Fly to home.
